Overview of the Church History

New Hope Church of God in Christ started in the year of 1988 with approximately fifteen people. The church started in the city of Chubbuck, Idaho and after about six months the decision was made to move to Idaho Falls, Idaho. The first meeting place was in the Pastor & Wife's home at 551 Sykes Drive. Elder George and Mom Alberta Foster welcome the church into their home and the church met there until one of the members found an alternative. This was in the Coltrin Funeral Home building located off of "E" Street. Members did not know where the new meeting location was. The Pastor & Wife led the members to the new location and some members were not in favor of this location. It was actually stated that if they would have known that this was where the church was intending to be held, they would not have followed. The church then began to travel here and there to meet for worship service. This was the wandering Pilgrim stage of New Hope, going from place to place and building to building. The church met in the Idaho Falls Recreation Center, back to the Coltrin Funeral Home which was bought by the Unitarian Church, to the Shilo Inn and finally to First Congregational Church (775 Lincoln Drive) in Idaho Falls, Idaho. New Hope was known as the traveling Israelite Church up until 1997 when the LORD begin to build us a building. During this time, Elder Foster was promoted to the Office of Jurisdictional Prelate in the Church of God in Christ, and in 1998 the church name was expanded to New Hope Temple Church of God in Christ. God is yet blessing New Hope Temple with souls and increasing the church's faith as a whole.

God has blessed New Hope to construct a building from faith and trust in HIS word. The facility is a 200 plus seating edifice which is scheduled to be completed by the year 2000. This will be a multipurpose facility which will include the church sanctuary, administrative offices for both New Hope and the Idaho Jurisdiction, banquet hall and more. This project is still in the process of being completed the pavement for the parking lot and the foliage for the landscaping is estimated to be $50,000.00. New Hope Temple has adopted the Month of May as the month for our Church Anniversary. Help us to Celebrate the Work of GOD during the month of May.
