Bishop George Foster, Jr. was born January
11, 1936 to Mr.& Mrs. George and Maggie Foster, Sr. in Biloxi, Mississippi.
He was reared in Mississippi and served his country for 20 years in the
United States Marine Corps, rising to the position of Master Sargent in
the Heavy Equipment Construction field.
After accepting Christ as his Lord and savior,
he was ordained in 1968 by the late Bishop J.A. Blake as an Elder in the
Church of God in Christ. He was appointed to Assistant Pastor under Elder
Marvin Davis, Sr. of Zion Hill COGIC, Assist. Chaplin in the U.S. Marine
Corps, Ministerial Coordinator of Love Chapel COGIC, Assist. Pastor of Gospel
Light COGIC, Pastor and Founder of Solid Rock COGIC, and Pastor and Founder
of New Hope COGIC from 1988 to present.
Prior to his appointment
as Prelate fo the Idaho Jurisdiction, Bishop Foster served the Jurisdiction
in many capacities. He became the Administrative Assistant to the late Bishop
N. Jones in the State of Idaho, Administrative Assistant to the late Bishop
W.A. Alexander in the State of Montana and began serving as the Administrative
Assistant to Bishop Leroy Anderson when he was appointed the interim Bishop
of the states of Idaho and Montana.
Bishop Foster was married to the Late Alberta Foster and is
now married to Evangelist Girtha M. Edwards Foster. Together, he and Mother
Girtha Foster have 10 living Children, a host of Grand and Great Grand
Children.
